Oil on canvas, signed lower left. Humorous scene of men carrying gas cans on a desert road. Cover art for the September 2, 1961, issue of Post. 29"h. 23"w., framed, 31.5"h. 25.75"w. overall.
This painting was presented by the Post to an executive at the Campbell Soup Company (a major advertiser) in the early 1960s. It has descended in the family of that executive.
Estimate $ 12,000-18,000
Yellowed varnish with only a few surface spots. Blacklight revealed no repairs or inpainting.
